DMG SECURES SIXTH VICTORY OF THE SEASON AT SONOMA ROUND 7 & 8

Southern California based team, Doran Motorsports Group; returns back to their headquarters with more hardware earned after successful weekend in Sonoma for rounds seven and eight of the 2019 F4 Formula Pro USA Western Championship. Marco Kacic pulled off another victory this weekend as teammate Alan Tang grabbed a solid third place overcoming several adversities along the way. As the 2019 season has given the newly formed team strong momentum with stud drivers Alan Tang and Marco Kacic behind the wheel the team has seen nothing but positive results up to this point in the series.

For Saturday’s qualifying events the series made it a little more challenging for all drivers involved to get a great speed for the session. With too many cars on track at once it quickly became a means of trying to find as much open space as possible in order to gain a clean lap. Kacic earned his sixth pole position award for the season while Alan Tang brought his DMG prepared F4 car across the line in fifth to start the racing events for round 7.

Although Tang wasn’t able to get a clean qualifying session early on in the day, he was able to get a clean start of the race and work through traffic to savor another podium finish of third place on the day. Teammate Marco Kacic had unfortunate luck due to another competitor sliding into the rear end of Kacic’s car heading into turn four on lap one causing Kacic to concede the race early. This had ended Marco Kacic’s podium streak for the year as this was his first non-finished race of the year.

With further track issues and incidents putting a damper on the team’s qualifying session during round 8 on Sunday morning, there were two separate crashes that ordered the session to be cut short. While most of the drivers didn’t get the opportunity to get a clean lap in, this included Tang and Kacic, who were forced to settle for second and fourth to start the racing event for the day.

Both DMG pilots were looking to make a strong effort to see the podium during round 8 of the F4 Formula Pro USA Western Championship race on Sunday. While both drivers’ luck was looking great early on from the start of the race Kacic had a hard fought battle early on with the leader. Making a strong move to the outside to make a pass attempt, he was able to make it stick and gain the lead. Leaving the competitor in the dust after lap 5 of the race he earned his sixth victory of the season. Tang unfortunately was unable to reach the podium on Sunday’s race as battling in the fourth position a lap car spun directly in front of him forcing him to make an evasive move causing him to spin as well. Tang was able to make a quick recovery to continue the race but was only able to reach fifth place across the finish line.

The entire DMG team would like to give a huge thank you to their partners and sponsors in giving them the opportunity to prove results through the weekend. The team would like to give thanks to Electra Meccanica, Lancer Tactical, EAdg, Alpine Stars, Beta Tool, Arai helmets, Guisti Wines, New Balance Vancouver, LHM, and Area 27.
