DORAN MOTORSPORTS GROUP LEAVES FONTANA WITH A ONE-TWO FINISH

Southern California based Formula 4 team, Doran Motorsports Group, continues to make a name for themselves with stellar results at this past weekend’s double-header race hosted at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana for the Formula 4 Western Championship Series. Earning an impressive one-two finish along with 2 more podiums throughout the weekend.

The DMG pilot duo Marco Kacic and Alan Tang began the race weekend on Friday atop the charts. Headed into Saturday’s events the two drivers were able to continue their speed by securing a second and third place qualifying position. As racing began for the DMG squad on Saturday, the Kacic and Tang had an action packed race as the high banked oval portion of the circuit made it difficult for any one driver to maintain the lead position due to the draft. An intense three way battle between Kacic, Tang, and another competitor had the Doran Motorsports Group crew on their toes. Tang developed a shifting issues that unfortunately took him out of contention for the win and he was able to nurse his car to a solid fourth place finish on the day. Kacic still charging ahead to finish the race on the top spot in first place. After podium presentations Kacic was penalized one position due to passing under a yellow flag condition officially ending the day in second.

As both drivers were hungry for the win due to unfortunate circumstances on Saturday, Sunday’s race ended on a high note for Doran Motorsports Group. Kacic started on the pole position with Tang starting directly behind him in third. Once again Tang and Kacic were involved in a very exciting three way battle for the lead, but this time they were able to break away from the third position driver and secure the team’s first one-two finish with Kacic taking the win and Tang taking second.

Team Principal, Francois Doran exclaims, “this was a milestone weekend for the DMG/Meccanica Group! Our first ever P1, and P2 finish. This crew is unreal. The skills of these people, from driving, engineering, troubleshooting and coaching. I love these guys.” Doran also goes on to say, “we were also very happy to have an addition to the team this weekend. Indy Pro Series standout Nikita Lastochkin joined us as the team’s driver coach. We are confident we can carry this momentum into the next round in Portland, Oregon in three weeks.”

The entire DMG team would like to give a huge thank you to their partners and sponsors in giving them the opportunity to prove results through the weekend. The team would like to give thanks to Electra Meccanica, Lancer Tactical, EAdg, Alpine Stars, Beta Tool, Arai helmets, Guisti Wines, New Balance Vancouver, LHM, and Area 27.
